Well, welcome to my hip blog. The place where I tell you my whole life story concerning hips.
I will start at the beginning: birth. I was born with hip dysplasia. Except my doctor didn't seem to notice. Grr. You see, at birth dysplasia is fairly easy to fix. The bones are still semi-malleable, and all is right with the world. Unfortunately, I was about 1 1/2 when they found out. Which meant two (both my hips were messed up) major surgeries. So we fixed them. I was in a body cast for about six months and then a couple months more because I, accident prone as I am, had to go and break one of my legs. In the hospital, no less.
So here I am. All I have on me since my surgeries were 4 scars. My doctors were not sure I would be able to grow up as active as other children. They were mistaken. I was active plenty enough. (Of course, my dad did get teary the first time he saw me run a cross country race :) I still went to the Milwaukee Children's Hospital every year till I was 10.
When we moved, we went once to Campbell Clinic and that was it. Until one day, when....
Tune in next time for the next exciting account of Melora managing to mess herself up...

The page is so pretty!
I concur. :) Glad to see you've joined the cult completely now. . . muahahaha!
Yes. I definitely have. Thanks Dema.
Aww, so I wasn't the first person to see it.
Technically I was, though Dema beat you to the punch. Mwahahahaha!
I love your picture by the way.
And, RT, I win. :D
Why thank you very much.
I'm a liar!!!!
So, here's the sitch. I was only in a body cast for three months and in a leg cast for 1 month. I showed my mom my blog ('cause it's so purty)and she's like "you weren't in one of those for that long!"
So here I am, caught in a hyperbole.
I wouldn't use the word hyperbole, but OK.
When my mother saw mine, she was all pissed. Like about the "Panzer's Time" bit. And the old tagline about a lonely hacker. The new one's worse though.
And it seems to me like you'd have a link to that hipuniverse site, like Dema has to Al-Jazeera.
I've got Lauren's cite now. She's got link imaginable.
Hi Melee
Welome fellow hip sister. To answer your question most PAO's take 4-5 hours. I was an exception. Lucky me. Apparently I have super dense bones and so my surgeon had a hard time cutting through them. My mother says that when he finally emerged from the OR 7 hours after I went in he looked wiped and was super hungry. Uma (see my Dec 12th entry as to why I call my hip Uma) gave him a run for his money. As he put it women's pelvis' are usually quite easy to saw through. Mine was not. He had to pull out bigger saws and chissels. So when I have my left leg done I will be putting up a challenge for him to do the other side in 5 hours instead of 7.
Well feel free to contact me any time you have any questions.
Lauren
Oh, well that's nice of her.
Thanks! I might lose the bet then. Oh, well. Uber Uma surely is amazing.
